Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
Category 4 based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
The lethal dose (LD50) value for acute oral toxicity test was considered to be 630 mg/kg bw,when rats were treated with test chemical orally.
Executive summary:

Acute oral toxicity study was performed in rats using test chemical 3 -Picoline (CAS no.: 108 -99 -6, E.C. no.: 203 -636 -9). 3 male rats per dose of Fischer strain were treated at a dose concentration 320, 630, 1300, 2000, 3200 and 5000mg/kg bw. Animals were further observed for clinical signs of toxicity and mortality for 14 days. Mortality in 50% of animal population was observed at dose 630 mg/kg bw. Hence, the LD50 value was considered to be 630mg/kg bw, when rats were treated with test chemical. The test chemical can be considered as "Category 4" according to the CLP.
