Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Ammonium
In a respiration test teh 30 min EC50 is determined to be 1618 mg/L.
Zinc
An activated sludge respiration test giving an EC50 (3d) of 5,2mg Zn/l (Dutka et al 1983).
So zinc is responsible for toxicity

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Ammonium:

In a short term respiration test (domestic activated sludge), performed similar to OECD guideline 209, an EC20 of 1050 mg/L and an EC50 of 1618 mg/L were determined. Therefore, inhibition of degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriate low concentrations

Zinc:

Several data available for this endpoint. The EC50 reported from the study by Dutka et al (1983), is giving the lowest reliable value. This study was also used in the EU risk assessment to assess the PNEC for STP.
