Description of key information

Slags, steelmaking, vanadium are not oxidising.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Slags, steelmaking, vanadium are inert inorganics with all components being in their most stable oxidation state. These slags are formed at temperatures of >1000 °C and, thus, are free of any material which could exothermically react with combustible material under standard conditions.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on observation, knowledge of the manufacturing method, and analytical information, "Slags, steelmaking, vanadium" are not oxidising.

Slags, steelmaking, vanadium does not need to be classified as oxidizing solid according to GHS and EC 1272/2008 (CLP-Guideline) Annex 1: 2.14.

Slags, steelmaking, vanadium does not need to be classified as oxidizing solid in Division 5.1 according to the UN-Transport Regulations.
