Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The melting point of slags is correlated to the constituents in the processed ores. In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex VII determination of vapour pressure does not need to be conducted if the melting point is above 300 °C.
Taking furthermore the production process of slags, tin-smelting into account (smelting at 1200 °C) and considering furthermore the melting points of common slags (available via ECHA´s website for registered substances), the melting point of slags, tin-smelting can be expected to be above > 450 °C.
Against this background, determination of vapour pressure is considered as not required under Regulation 1907/2006 (REACH).
