Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The transfer of a substance from the water phase to the gas phase can be estimated by the Henry’s Law Constant (HLC). No measured value for this parameter is available. The HLC was estimated from the ratio of the vapour pressure to the water solubility according to following equation.

HLC = (VP*MW)/WS

Volatilisation from water is not relevant for trichloro(hexadecyl)silane due to its rapid hydrolysis in contact with water.

The calculated HLC value for the hydrolysis product hexadecylsilanetriol at environmental temperature is low, 5.9 E-07 Pa m3mol-1(Bond estimation, HENRYWIN).
