Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:
Migrated from Short description of key information:
Because the substance H2ZrF6 is a highly corrosive liquid (Skin Corr. 1A, H314: Causes severe skin burns and eye damage), no experimental studies investigating skin sensitisation are available. Further, read-across is applied from the solid salt dipotassium hexafluorozirconate (K2ZrF6), which was shown not to be sensitising in a guideline conform study according to OECD Guideline 406 (guinea pig maximisation study, Reference: Allen, D.J. (1997)). No classification for skin sensitisation is required for H2ZrF6.

Justification for selection of skin sensitisation endpoint:
Read-across to H2ZrF6 (no testing possible because of corrosivity) from non-corrosive salt dipotassium hexafluorozirconate based on structural similarities.

Justification for classification or non-classification
