Description of key information

No effect of Fatty Acid Glycerides on sewage treatment plants is expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

According to column 2 of EC 1970/2006 Annex VIII 9.1.4 an activated sludge respiration inhibition testing does not need to be conducted if there are mitigating factors like poor water solubility indicating that microbial toxicity is unlikely to occur. As all category members are poorly soluble in water (< 1 mg/L) no testing is required. Thus, the exposure of microorganisms in STP to these substances is very limited. Furthermore all category members are readily biodegradable.  Thus indicating that Fatty Acid Glycerides do not pose a risk to aquatic micro-organisms when released into a sewage treatment plant.
