Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

The ready biodegradation test 301A was performed on 2 -Keto-L-gluonic acid in a standard 15 day study. A total of 97% of the material was removed in 5 days. The test material is considered readily biodegradable. In addition, an OECD 303 B simulation test was available for the other main component of keto gulonic acid greens, ascorbic acid. That study also demonstrated that ascorbic acid is rapidly biodegraded. Therefore, keto gulonic acid greens are readily biodegradable.
