The substance is a metal complex and at 20 °C and 1013 hPa it is a black powder.

The melting point test was performed using the capillary method and it was observed that the substance does not melt up to 573 K (300 °C). Thus, the boiling point and the vapour pressure were not investigated.

The relative density was found to be 1.698 at 20 °C using a gas comparison pycnometer.

The substance is very soluble in water at room temperature. The average water solubility value was 66 g/l at 20 °C and at pH 6.0.

Depending on the concentration, the substance reduces significantly the surface tension of water. For this reason, the Pow value of 1*10-3 (log Pow = -3) was only calculated from the ratio C saturation n-octanol / C saturation water.

No reactions with water or emission of flammable gases have ever been noted. Furthermore, for soluble dyes a reaction with water is not a desirable property from the use point of view. Therefore, the substance is not expected as a substance that in contact with water may react emitting flammable gases.

During flammability test the substance did not burn but smouldered. A self-ignition point temperature of 260 °C was found. Thermal sensitivity and mechanical sensitivity (shock and friction) tests indicated the absence of explosive properties. The substance is considered to be incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials, on the basis both of the oxidizing property preliminary test and its thermal properties.

Thus, the substance could be considered an air-stable compound at room temperature without noticeable or undesirable reactions.
