After 27½ hours storage in a freezer, the test substance was observed to be a very viscous liquid on removal to -22°C. This indicates that di-tert-nonyl polysulfide had not frozen.

Conclusions:
The melting/freezing point of di-tert-nonyl polysulfide is less than -20°C.

The probe of a thermocouple was placed in a test tube containing the test item. The test item was stirred as it was cooled until the item solidified. Visual observation was used to determine the physical state and the temperature/time curve was recorded.
