Particle size distribution (Granulometry)
Administrative data
Link to relevant study record(s)
- Endpoint:
- particle size distribution (granulometry)
- Data waiving:
- study scientifically not necessary / other information available
- Justification for data waiving:
- the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is marketed or used in a non solid or granular form
- Percentile:
- D50
- Remarks on result:
- other: Migrated from fields under 'Mass median diameter' as D50 percentile. No source field for Standard deviation.
- Endpoint:
- particle size distribution (granulometry)
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- disregarded due to major methodological deficiencies
- Reliability:
- 4 (not assignable)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- other: The substance is also imported into the EU as a powder preparation (powdered substance is coated with zeolite). The particle size was determined on the preparation. These data give an idea on the size of the powdered preparation.
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- other: ASTM D502-89 (2003) Standard test method for particle size of soaps and other detergents.
- Deviations:
- not specified
- GLP compliance:
- no
- Percentile:
- D50
- Mean:
- 610 µm
- Size:
- 1 000 µm
- Distribution:
- > 9 %
- Size:
- > 150 µm
- Distribution:
- 98.2 %
- Size:
- < 150 µm
- Distribution:
- 1.8 %
- Conclusions:
- The mean geometric diameter of a sample of preparation (substance with zeolite coating) is about 610 µm. About 2% of the sample has a mean geometric diameter lower than 150 µm.

The mean geometric diameter of a sample of preparation (substance with zeolite coating) is about 610 µm.
Description of key information
It should be noted that the substance is imported into the EU as a powder preparation (powdered substance is surface treated with zeolite). The zeolite stabilises the powdered substance, which was found to be unstable in the absence of zeolite. Data on particle size distribution of the powder preparation is included in the study records on granulometry.
