Executive summary:

Based on the prediction done using ECOSAR version 1.1, the long term toxicity on fish was predicted for test substance  l-Glutamic acid, N-coco acyl derivs., monosodium salts (68187 -32 -6). On the basis of no effects observed in a static freshwater fish, the NOEC value for the substance is estimated to be 23.58 mg/l for fish for 28 days of exposure duration. Based on this value, it can be concluded that the test chemical l-Glutamic acid, N-coco acyl derivs., monosodium salts can be considered as non-toxic to fish at environmentally relevant concentrations and can be considered not-classified as per the CLP classification criteria.

This end point was considered for waiver in accordance with column 1 of Annex IX wherein data has been provided for short term toxicity to fish. In addition, this chemical is readily bio-degradable in water and coupled with the dilution potential in the aquatic environment, the chemical is not expected to cause long term toxicity to fish
