Description of key information

The substance is handled throughout its lifecycle under strictly controlled conditions. Therefore, direct of indirect exposure of the environment is unlikely. Further, based on the structure, the substance has a low potential to cross biological membranes (see predicted BCF values). In conclusion, bioaccumulation is not a concern.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
163 L/kg ww

Additional information

For the main constituent docosan-1-ol, a BCF of 163.6 L/kg wet weight has been calculated using the BCFBAF-module (version 3.01) of EpiSuite4.1, while the module calculates lower BCF for molecules with longer C-chains, e.g. tetracosanol (CAS 506-51-4: BCF = 54.03 L/kg wet weight) or Lanolin wax (CAS 68200-49-0: BCF = 7.48 L/kg wet weight).
