Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
General information:
Take care of your own personal safety.
Remove victims from hazardous area.
Take off all contaminated clothing immediately.
Keep warm, position comfortably, and cover well.
Do not leave affected persons unattended.
First aid inhalation:
In case of symptoms of irritation caused by vapours in thermal processing: Provide fresh air, seek medical advice if necessary.
Following inhalation of product dust: Provide fresh air, seek medical advice if necessary.
First aid skin:
Wash off with plenty of water immediately, seek medical advice.
Cool skin rapidly with cold water after contact with molten material.
Do not peel solidified product off the skin.
In case of burns by molten product medical treatment is necessary.
First aid eye:
Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.
First aid ingestion
Seek medical advice immediately.
Consult a physician immediately.
Hints for physican: treatment:
After accidental absorption in the body, the pathology and clinical findings are dependent on the kinetics of the substance (quantity of absorbed substance, the absorption time, and the effectiveness of early elimination measures (first aid)/ excretion - metabolism).
Continue with first aid measures. Depending on the pathology and clinical findings, patient monitoring and symptomatic treatment are necessary.
Fire-fighting measures
Extinguishing media:
water spray, foam, dry powder, high volume water jet, CO2
Hazards during fire-fighting:
May be released in case of fire: carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitric oxides.
Under certain fire conditions, traces of other toxic products may occur.
Have ready/wear respiratory protection equipment.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions:
Wear personal protective equipment; see section 8. Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes. Do not breathe vapours/dust.
Environmental Precautions:
Should not be released into the environment.
Methods for cleaning or taking up:
Use mechanical handling equipment. Fill into marked, sealable containers. To be disposed of in compliance with existing regulations. If molten: Absorb or contain liquid with sand, earth or spill control material. Allow to solidify, use mechanical handling equipment.
Handling and storage
Advice on safe handling:
Handle and open container with care. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. If the product is thermally treated, provide for a vapour exhaust device. Avoid dust formation. Good air supply and ventilation of storage and working rooms
Fire and explosion protection:
Normal measures for preventive fire protection. If dusts develop, explosive dust/air mixtures may form.
Storage requirements (SDS):
Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Keep molten material under nitrogen.
Separate storage (general):
Observe prohibition against storing together! Do not store near acids.
Storage stability:
Storage temperature: <100 °C

Exposure controls / personal protection
Personal protection:
Respiratory Protection: Should vapours inadvertently manage to permeate into the surrounding air during thermal processing, then gas masks fitted with filters designed to combat organic vapours (e.g. A 2) or breathing apparatus with an independent air supply are to be worn. In the case of respirable dust, use self-contained breathing apparatus.
Hand protection: No protective glove type has been specified for use with this product. The glove listed is only a preliminary recommendation Protective heat-insulating gloves are to be used during thermal processing.
Type of material butyl-rubber (Butoject)
Material thickness 0,7 mm
Breakthrough time > 30 min
Test method DIN EN 374
Eye protection:
close-fitting protective goggles (e.g. closed goggles) or face protection
Body protection:
When opening the container, decanting or blending: suitable protective clothing / face protection
Industrial hygiene:
Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Do not breathe dust. Remove immediately all contaminated clothing. Use disposable clothing if appropriate. Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area. Wash face and/or hands before break and end of work.
Stability and reactivity
Hazardous reactions
Hazardous reactions Exothermic reaction with water
Further info on stability Stable under normal conditions.
Conditions to avoid (SDS):
Keep away from heat and sources of ignition.
Substances to avoid (SDS):
acids, acid chlorides, acid anhydrides, oxidizing agents, Water
Decomposition products:
Decomposition products in combustion and thermal decomposition
Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx)
Disposal considerations
Waste disposal of substance:
With respect to local regulations, e.g. dispose of to suitable waste incineration plant.
No waste key number as per the European Waste Types List can be assigned to this product, since such classification is based on the (as yet undetermined) use to which the product is put by the consumer.
The waste key number must be determined as per the European Waste Types List (decision on EU Waste Types List 2000/532/EC) in cooperation with the disposal firm / producing firm / official authority.
Information on Registered Substances comes from registration dossiers which have been assigned a registration number. The assignment of a registration number does however not guarantee that the information in the dossier is correct or that the dossier is compliant with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (the REACH Regulation).
