Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Results of studies with di-isodecyl phthalate ester (DIDP; CAS #68515-49-1) show that DIDP will not cause acute or chronic toxicity to terrestrial organisms and plants at high soil loading levels. These data are consistent with terrestrial toxicity data for other high molecular weight phthalate esters that also do not exhibit terrestrial toxicity. The terrestrial organisms toxicity dataset for DIDP includes results for an earthworm, Eisenia fetida, and the plant toxicity dataset includes results for two species, Lolium species and Lactuca sativa. Additionally, DIDP is unlikely to pose a secondary poisoning risk to birds based on data that show it is be readily biodegradable and has a low bioaccumulative potential (fish BCF below 100 and no indications of bioaccumulation in mammalian tests). The extensive mammalian toxicity database for DIDP demonstrates a lack of acute and chronic effects to vertebrates. Further, DIDP is not toxic to aquatic and non vertebrate terrestrial organisms and plants. The sum total of these data establish a weight of evidence that strongly supports the conclusion that DIDP will not produce acute or chronic effects in birds.
