Description of key information

Isopropyl laurate is readily biodegradable

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

The ready biodegradability of Isopropyl laurate was tested in an O2-consumption test according to OECD 301D (Closed Bottle Test) and to GLP (van Ginkel and Stroo 1993). After 28 days, 67 % of the initial test substance was degraded. Based on these findings, Isopropyl laurate is considered to be readily biodegradable.

This is in consistence with all further members of the category for which ready biodegradability was observed.
