Description of key information

Water solubility: ca. 113 mg/L at 20°C (OECD 105, parent substance)
Water solubility: 1,000,000 mg/L at 20°C (QSAR, hydrolysis product)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A water solubility value of ca. 113 mg/L was determined in a reliable study conducted according to OECD Guideline 105, and in compliance with GLP. It has been selected as key study. A simplified flask method was used due to the low solubility of the substance.

A water solubility value of 1E+6 mg/L was obtained using an appropriate QSAR method for the hydrolysis product. The result is considered to be reliable. The result is considered as a valid supporting study. In reality, the solubility of the silanol is limited by its ability to undergo condensation reactions to form siloxane dimers, trimers and oligomers.
