Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Koc values of Eucalyptus oil vary between 260.4 L/kg and 3222.3 L/kg.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Koc at 20 °C:
3 222.28

Additional information

Eucalyptus oil is a natural complex substance. It is a mixture of several components, but three of them represent 90% of that mixture. Log Kow of each of these components were determined and Koc values for Eucalyptus oil were calculated for the two extreme Log Kow values: 1,8-cineol with a log Kow at 2.84 and alpha-pinene with a log Kow at 4.42.

In a weight of evidence approach, 1,8-cineol and alpha-pinene Koc values were calculated with 3 different methods (table 1, table 2):

Regarding the wide range of Koc values, it is not possible to determine only one Koc value to characterise Eucalyptus oil Adsorption behaviour. Therefore it is assumed that both values of Koc should be considered for the Risk Assessment.
