Description of key information

Degradation of dichloromethane in water by photolysis is slow, with a half-life of 21.1 months.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Photolysis is not likely to be a significant removal process for dichloromethane. Dichloromethane (1 mg/ml) in water was degraded by 64% in the presence of sunlight (Dilling et al., 1975).
