Description of key information

Dichloromethane degradation was observed in the aqueous phase of natural sediment with a half life of 10.9 days.

Dichloromethane was degraded at a concentration of 200 µg/L in the aqueous phase of natural sediment. Degradation was observed to proceed via methylchloride, although accumulation was not observed (Wood et al., 1981), the corresponding half-life in water is 10.9 d.
