Endpoint:
dissociation constant
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the analytical method is not sensitive enough
other:
Justification for type of information:
Cadmium is pH neutral and its ionic form is 2+, thus the dissociation constant relating to the acidity constant, pKa, as required by the IUCLID database and REACH Guidance document, is not relevant for the substance in both physical forms. Equilibrium of cadmium ion in water is illustrated by Pourbaix diagram on page 18 of the attached report (Liipo J, Karhu J, Metsärinta M-L, Virta K, Wiik E, Santala M, Pihlasalo J, Salminen J, Tiihonen J and Harle S. (2010). Characterization of Pure Cadmium Compounds – cadmium. Outotec report. Testing laboratory: Outotec Oy, Pori, Finland. Report no.: 10046-ORC-T. Report date: 2010-05-31)
