The concept of biodegradation is not established for inorganic substances. This endpoint is developed for organic chemicals.
In accordance with REACH Annex XI section 2, biodegradability testing is not required as the substance is inorganic and hence biotic degradation cannot occur. Testing for these endpoints has been omitted on the basis that testing is not technically feasible.
In a publication where the exchange of inorganic chemical between water and sediments were explored it was found, that Sn is removed from the water column after 22.047 d (calculation). If applying the criteria of ready biodegradability to inorganics the removal was 80 % in 28 days, but not fulfilling the 10d window.
