Description of key information

Flammable upon ignition.
The substance has no pyrophoric properties and does not liberate flammable gases in contact with water.
The substance is not a self-reactive substance or mixture.
The substance is not a self-heating substance or mixture.
The substance is not an organic peroxide.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
flammable

Additional information

Derived from flash point the substance or mixture needs to be classified as flammable.

The following classification criteria are met: R10 (flammable) of EU Directive 67/548/EEC: flash point >= 21 °C and <= 55 °C; Flammable liquids, Category 3 (flammable liquids and vapour) of EU CLP: flash point >= 23 °C and <= 60 °C

Based on chemical structure pyrophoric properties and flammability in contact with water are not to be expected.

The substance or mixture does not need to be classified as self-reactive as there are no chemical groups present in the molecule associated with explosive or self reactive properties.

The substance or mixture does not need to be classified as self-heating as the substance is a liquid.

The substance or mixture does not need to be classified as an organic peroxide as by definition based on their chemical structure the substance is no organic peroxide.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Dangerous Substance Directive (67/548/EEC):

Taking into account the provisions laid down in Directive 67/548/EEC, as amended for the 31st time in Directive 2009/2/EG,

the substance is considered to be a flammable liquid (R10) and the substance is not considered to be classified flammable in contact with water or pyrophoric.

Classification, Labelling, and Packaging Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008:

Based on the chemical structure and taking into account the provisions laid down in Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, as amended for the sixth time in Regulation (EC) No 605/2014., the substance is considered to be a flammable liquid cat. 3 and

not considered to be classified as flammable in contact with water, pyrophoric, self-reactive substance, self heating substance or organic peroxide.
