Description of key information

The bioconcentration factor (BCF) was estimated by BCFBAF v3.00, a model within Estimation Programs Interface Suite™ for Microsoft ® Windows, v4.00. This estimated BCF is useful to evaluate the potential for bioaccumulation in both aquatic and terrestrial habitats.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
2.508 L/kg ww

Additional information

The BCF for 2-methylpyridine was estimated as 2.508 L/kg wet weight (log BCF = 0.399), and indicates that this compound has a low potential for bioaccumulation. The Japan National Institute of Technology and Evaluation reported a steady-state BCF of 0.79, with the statement that the chemical substance was determined "to be not highly bioaccumulative", thus confirming the low potential for bioaccumulation.
