Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Inhalation. Remove to fresh air. Keep warm and at rest. Get medical attention if patient feels unwell..
Skin: Remove contaminated clothing. Immediately wash skin with soap and water. Get medical attention if skin cracking or redness occurs.
Eyes: Immediately flush eye with large quantities of water for at least 15 minutes holding the eye open. Avoid contaminating unaffected eye.
Ingestion: Wash out mouth with water. Do not induce vomiting. Keep patient warm and at rest. Give 240-300 ml water to drink ( only if patient is conscious). Repeat if patient vomits. Get medical attention if patient is unwell. Get medical attention if a large quantity is ingested.

Fire-fighting measures

Special hazards: Hazardous combustion products may include carbon monoxide.
Fire/explosion hazards: Vapours can form explosive mixtures with air at ambient temperature. Vapours are heavier than air and can travel long distances along ground before igniting and flashing back to vapour source.
Extinguishing media: Suitable: Alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical powder, carbon dioxide, water mist. Unsuitable: Water in a jet.
Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Exposure controls and personal protection: Evacuate all non-essential personnel. Avoid eye and skin contact, and inhalation of vapour. Wear appropriate protective clothing. Wear respiratory protection. Ventilate area. Do not smoke. Keep away sources of ignition. Be aware of possible accumulation of vapour.
Environmental precautions: Keep away from drains, water and soil. Advise authorities if spilled material has entered water courses or sewer or has contaminated soil or vegetation.
Clean up methods: Absorb or contain liquid with sand, earth or spill control material. Collect and place in a labelled sealable container for subsequent safe disposal. Flush contaminated area with plenty of water. Put leaking containers in a labelled drum or overdrum.

Handling and storage

Handling: Avoid contact with skin. Do not breathe vapour. Extinguish any naked flames. Remove ignition sources. Do not smoke. Avoid sparks. Earth all equipment. Only use in well ventilated areas. Keep container tightly closed when not in use. Provide emergency eye washing and shower facilities.
Storage: Storage area should be cool and dry. Keep away from direct sunlight and other sources of heat or ignition. Keep in a well-ventilated place. Store in a bunded area. Use electrically safe equipment. Earth all storage vessels.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Technical control measures: Use local exhaust ventilation if concentrations in air could exceed occupational exposure standard.
Respiratory protection: Use positive pressure breathing mask if concentrations in air could exceed occupational exposure standard
Eye protection: Protective goggles with side-shields
Hand protection: Gloves made from butyl rubber (breakthrough times >480 minutes), Neoprene™ rubber, nitrile rubber (breakthrough times up to 480 minutes).
Body protection: Neoprene™ apron. Rubber boots.
Environmental protection: Defined as a volatile organic chemical under directive 99/13. No special limits apply.

Stability and reactivity

Stability: Stable under normal conditions. May form peroxides on prolonged exposure to air and light.
Conditions to avoid: High temperatures and sources of ignition. Prolonged exposure to air/oxygen and light.
Materials to avoid: Oxidising agents.
Hazardous decomposition products: Oxides of carbon on combustion.

Disposal considerations

Waste disposal: Dispose of as hazardous waste. Recover or recycle if possible. Otherwise incineration. Dispose of in accordance with all local regulations.
Container disposal: Drain container thoroughly. After draining, vent in a safe place away from sparks and fire.
Do not puncture, cut or weld uncleaned drums.. Send to drum recover or metal reclaimer.
