Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
calculation (if not (Q)SAR)
Remarks:
estimated by calculation
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
accepted calculation method
Justification for type of information:
Since log Kow for surface active substances cannot be determined according to standardised methods, the value has been estimated by measuring water and octanol solubilites, and calculating the ratio of solubilities.
Guideline:
other: Determination of solubility ratio in ocatanol and water
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Solubility ratio of solubility in octanol and water was calculated.
The water solubility was determined as the Critical Micelle concentration, since the substance is a surface active agent.
Octanol solubility was determined according to a procedure for water solubility OECD, using visual inspection of the solution, since the substance is readily soluble in octanol.
GLP compliance:
no
Other quality assurance:
ISO/IEC 17025 (General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories)
Type of method:
estimation method (solubility ratio)
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
2.95
Temp.:
23 °C
pH:
7
Conclusions:
The log Kow was estiamated using the calculation of solubility ratio of octanol and water solubilities.
Executive summary:

The log Kow was estiamated to 2.95,  using the calculation of solubility ratio of octanol and water solubilities.

Description of key information

The log Kow is determined to be 2.95 based on the solubility ratio of octanol and water solubilities.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
2.95
at the temperature of:
23 °C
