Additional information

There is a wealth of data on the bioaccumulation of Se through the aquatic food chain. A generic bioaccumulation factor of 4721 L/kg dw, corresponding to 944 L/kg ww, was calculated as the 90th percentile of species mean bioconcentration and bioaccumulation data for 8 fish species and 4 groups of aquatic invertebrates (crustaceans, insects, molluscs and annelids).

No reliable data are available for bioaccumulation of Se in terrestrial organisms.
