PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Comparison of physico-chemical, toxicity and ecotoxicity, and fate properties has demonstrated that the material

114959-46-5 is suitable for use in read-across for properties of 171171-80-5. The ECB TCNES Working Group

for PBT investigation agreed that the two materials could be treated as interchangeable in terms of application of

all data for PBT and vPvB investigations and hence data for closely related material 114959-46-5 are broadly

used in this assessment.

Substance 171171-80-5 has shown little evidence of hazard in any of the available toxicity studies – including

studies in mammals, fish, aquatic invertebrates, algae and microorganisms – and consequently is not classified

as hazardous according to DSD or CLP. The similar material 114959-46-5 has also been shown to be readily

biodegradable in a screening test, and is expected to have limited potential for bioaccumulation. Consequently,

it is concluded that 171171-80-5 should not be classed either as PBT or vPvB.
