Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key study

BATELLE (2003)

An experimental study was performed to determine the water-octanol partition coefficient according to EU Method A.8 using the HPLC method. The retention times of six reference items with known log Pow and the test item were measured and the capacity factors were determined. From the linear regression through the log Pow plotted against the logarithm of the capacity factors the log Pow of the test item was determined. The log Pow of the test item was determined to be 4.98 at 20 °C at acidic conditions.

Supporting information

CELAMERCK (1982)

The log Pow of the test item was determined based on the solubilities of the test item in water and octanol. This procedure corresponds to the preliminary test described in OECD 107. The log Pow of the test item was determined to be 4.6.

RCC (1988)

An experimental study was performed to determine the water-octanol partition coefficient according to OECD 107 using the shake flask method. No test substance could be detected in the water phases. Thus, the concentration of the test item is given to be < 0.01 mg/L (detection limit of the method of chemical analysis). An overall mean partition coefficient of > 2E04 was calculated. Expressed as its logarithm (base 10), the mean partition coefficient is > 4.3. The temperature during the measurement was 20 °C and the pH of all water samples was 7.3.
