Description of key information

Experimental result: 1.4787 g/cm3 at 20°C, 1.4907 g/cm3 at 25°C (extrapolated); D20/4 = 1.4908
Handbook data: 1.531 at 25°C (CRC), d20=1.5351 (Merck index), d20=1.5351 (Dose), d0=1.535 (Sax's), d=1.535 (Cond.Chem.Dict.)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Relative density at 20C:
1.52

Additional information

An experimental study was conducted, that can be related to the EC guideline, on the dehydrated substance (purity not specified). Density measurements were recorded between 24 and 55°C. Values at 20 and 25°C were calculated from the linear regression. Relative density was calculated from ratio to standard water density at 4°C.

Supporting litterature data from five handbooks are consistent between each other, despite differences in reference temperature, but are significantly higher than the experimental result.

The retained key value is the mean of the three available values for relative density at 20°C.
