Description of key information
A key study evaluating the long-term toxicity of TFA on the reproduction of the freshwater invertebrates Daphnia magna is available. No toxicity was observed at the highest concentration tested and a NOEC (21-days) for survival of adults and reproduction rate equal or greater than 25 mg TFA/L is derived and used for the chemical safety assessment.

One key study (reliable without restrictions) according to the OECD guideline 211/ EU Method C.20 under GLP is available on the freshwater invertebrate Daphnia magna.
This reproduction test was performed with a test material containing 30% Sodium trifluoroacetate at five concentrations and one control during 21 days. All validity criteria were fulfilled and the biological results show no toxicity on the survival of adults and thereproduction rate after 21-days. The NOEC and EC50 (21d) were derived as equal/greater and greater than 25 mg TFA/L (corresponding to 100 mg 30% w/w NaTFA/L), respectively.
