Description of key information

The melting point of Sodium dimethyl 5-sulphonatoisophthalate (SIM-Ester) was determined to be 374 ± 2 °C at 1013.25 hPa.

 A melting point study was conducted according to OECD TG 102 and Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 method A.1. Using differential calorimetry scanning method the melting point of SIM-Ester was determined to be 374 ± 2 °C at 1013.25 hPa. The substance starts to decompose above 420 °C.
