Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The only form if silver bromide addressed in this dossier is produced in the photographic industry. These silver bromide crystals precipitated by the reaction of silver nitrate with one or more soluble (sodium, potassium, ammonium) bromides in an aqueous gelatin solution. Thus the silver bromide crystals are formed in a liquid gelatin medium, and at all stages between formation and the further use they are contained in either a liquid gelatin medium or a gel. There is no spontaneous generation of dry particulates so that the experimental determination of particle size is not relevant. For further details and references, please refer to the document prepared by the Imaging and Printing Association, which is attached to the corresponding endpoint study record in the technical dossier.
