Description of key information

The log Pow of glycerine carbonate was calculated to be -1.39 at 25°C (Younis, 2014).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
-1.39
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

Due to the possible interference caused by the hydrolytic instability of the substance, it was not considered feasible to determine the n-octanol/water partition coefficient (Pow) of the substance within a normal experimental effort, and this for the two attempts to cover experimentally this endpoint (Reimer, 2003 and Younis, 2014).

Therefore, calculations were performed with a computer software manufactured by ACD (Advanced Chemistry Development, 2003), and with the software KOWWIN v1.68 (2014). The estimated Log Kow were -1.6 ± 0.6 and -1.39 respectively.

The key value for chemical safety assessment was chosen based on the most recent estimation.
