Description of key information

The avaiilable acute oral toxicity values ranged between 250 mg/kg bw and > 2000 mg/kg bw for the primary constituents of GLS-Silane (dichloro(methyl)silane - CAS 75-54-7; tetramethylsilane - CAS 75-76-3; trichlorosilane - CAS 10025-78-2; and 2-methylbutane - CAS 78-78-4). Thus, the mid-point value for the primary constituents of GLS-Silane for which acute oral toxicity values were available was 1320 mg/kg bw.

Additional information

According to the CLP, the test substance is classified as Acute Oral Category 4, "Harmful if swallowed" and Acute Inhalation Category 4, "Harmful if inhaled". This is based on: vapour inhalation (4 hour) 10.0 < LC50 </= 20 mg/L, and 300 < oral LD50 </= 2000 mg/kg bw.
