Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Test item 2 -methylcyclohexyl acetate was readily biodegradable under test conditions.

BOD (28 days): 99% degradation

Test material analysis by GC (28 days): 100% degradation.

Validity criteria fulfilled:
not specified
Conclusions:
The NOEC for microorganism toxicity of the test item 2-methylcyclohexyl acetate was determined to be 100 mg/L.
Executive summary:

A readily biodegradation test was performed on 2 -methylcyclohexyl acetate by MITI according to OECD Guideline 301 C. 30 mg/L of activated sludge were exposed to 100 mg/L test item for 4 weeks. The biodegradation obtained by indirect analysis was 99% (basis for effect: BOD), and by direct analysis 100% (basis for effect: GC) and therefore, 2 -methylcyclohexyl acetate was determined to be readily biodegradable. According to the current guidelines, the NOEC for microorganism toxicity was determined to be 100 mg/L since the compound degrades well in the ready biodegradability study.

Description of key information

Key study: Test method OECD 301C. No data on GLP. The NOEC (28 days) for 2-methylcyclohexyl acetate was determined to be 100 mg/L (basis for effect: biodegradation).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
100 mg/L

Additional information

Key study: The NOEC (28 days) for 2 -methylcyclohexyl acetate was determined to be 100 mg/L since the compound degrades well (99% biodegradation by BOD analysis, 100% biodegradation by GC analysis) in a ready biodegradability test according to OECD 301 C.
