No data is available for the UVCB substance itself. A limited number of acute toxicity studies are available in invertebrates for the a major component, 2-(2-(2-ethoxyyethoxy)ethoxy)ethanol ,which show that it is practically non-toxic to daphia and artemia (fresh and salt water species respectively). The LC50 was always in excess of the maximum tested dose. A reliable QSAR predicts that the LC50 of this substance will be 14g/L and that the LC50 of the other major component, 3,6,9,12-tetraoxatetradecan-1-ol, is significantly less toxic (LC50 =32g/L). It therefore seems an acceptable conservative approach to use data from t2-(2-(2-ethoxyethoxy)ethoxy)ethanol in place of absent data for the UVCB substance itself.
