Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The test substance was not readily biodegradable under the conditions of the modified Sturm test presently performed.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
under test conditions no biodegradation observed

Additional information

The key study describes the determination of the biodegradability of the test substance based on OECD and EU guidelines.

The test substance was tested for its ready biodegradability in the modified Sturm test at nominal concentrations of 10 and 20 mg/l. During the total test period of 28 days no significant degradation of the test substance was observed at either concentrations (<10%).

Hence the test substance was not readily biodegradable under the conditions of the modified Sturm test presently performed.

Under the same conditions sodium acetate was degraded by more than 60%.
