Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The NOEC of the test substance is 32 mg/L.
The EC10 of the test substance is 114 mg/L.
The EC50 of the test substance is 629 mg/L.
The test item is not toxic up to the concentration of 32 mg/L to activated sludge of a municipal sewage treatment plant.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
629 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
114 mg/L

Additional information

One experimental result is available for this endpoint. It concerns a Respiration Inhibition test with activated sludge according to OECD Guideline 209. The test system was activated sludge of the municipal treatment plant of 31157 Hildesheim, Germany. The test was carried out under static conditions with the test item concentrations 10, 32, 100, 320 and 1000 mg/L. The respiration rates of the control, reference and test item replicates were measured after a contact time of 3 hours, and the inhibitory effect of the test and reference substance were determined in comparison to the control respiration rates. The mean inhibition of respiration for the test item replicates ranged from -1% to 56%.

In order to check the activity of the test system and the test conditions a reference test was carried out with copper (II) sulphate pentahydrate as reference item and the reference toxicity was determined. The EC50-value for the reference item was 94 mg/L.

NOEC: 32 mg/L

EC10: 114 (86.4-146) mg/L

EC20: 185 (152-217) mg/L

EC50: 629 (500-831) mg/L

EC80: > 1000 mg/L
