Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2009.02.23-2009.02.27
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: GLP-Guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 102 (Melting point / Melting Range)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.1 (Melting / Freezing Temperature)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Remarks:
Landesamt fuer Umwelt, Wasserwirtschaft und Gewerbeaufsicht, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany
Type of method:
capillary method
Melting / freezing pt.:
>= -52.6 - <= -40.1 °C
Remarks on result:
other: estimated accuracy: +/-0.2 °C

Duplicated determinations resulted in the following ranges: -52.6 °C to -40.2 °C and -52.5 °C to -40.0 °C, mean value was reported -52.6 °C to -40.1 °C +/-0.2 °C.

The validity criterion "difference between duplicate determinations" was met. The test item Pentaerytritoltetrakis (3 -mercaptopropionate) (THIOCURE PETMP) showed a melting range, no melting point. As the test item is per definition a monoconstituent substance with a significant impurity, this is considered as normal. No observations were made which might cause doubts on the validity of the study outcome. Therefore, the result of the study is considered valid.

Conclusions:
The melting range of the test substance Pentaerytritoltetrakis (3-mercaptopropionate) (THIOCURE PETMP) has been deternined to be -52.6 to -40.1 °C +/- 0.2°C.
Executive summary:

The test material Pentaerytritoltetrakis (3-mercaptopropionate) (THIOCURE PETMP) has been determined to have a melting range of -52.6 to -40.1 °C +/- 0.2°C by using capillary method with an aluminium block, according to 102 OECD Guideline as of 27. July 1995 "Melting Point/Melting Range" for testing of chemicals and EU-Method A.1, as of 31. July 1992, "Melting/Freezing Temperature".
