Description of key information
Data have been obtained from secondary source (EPA databank), including several pubblication.
For long-term toxicity to fish many data for fresh and marine ecosystem are available.
NOEC for freshwaterfish of 208 µg/L and NOEC 940 µg/L for marine water fish have been choosen as the most relevant and conservative data.

Additional information
FRESH WATER
The most relevant and conservative study defines an NOEC of 208 µg/l, based on growth (wet weight) effects. This value was measured by chemical analysis. 2,4 -dinitrophenol with a purity of 85% was tested on standard fish Pimephales promelas (Fathead Minnow) in embrio stage, in a flow-trought condition. The exposure duration was 33 days. Two replicates were done. Temperature, pH, hardness, alkalinity and dissolved oxigen were measured during the test.
MARINE WATER
The most relevant and conservative study defines an NOEC of 940 µg/l in two studies. In the first study the value is based on growth (weight) effects. This value was measured by chemical analysis. 2,4 -dinitrophenol with a purity of 85% was tested on standard fish Cyprinodon variegatus (Sheepshead Minnow) in embrio stage, in a flow-trought condition. The exposure duration was 28 days. Temperature and salinity were measured during the test. Other effects as temperature effcts and hatch were observed. In the second study the value is based on general growth effects.
