Justification for type of information:
In accordance with the ECHA guidance on terrestrial ecotoxicology (R7.c, version 3.0, June 2017), log Kow values greater than 5 (as is the case for some of the constituents of the test substance) should be considered as indicative of high adsorption potential for the purpose of assigning a soil hazard category. There are no indications that the substance is very toxic to aquatic organisms (all EC/LC50 values are > 1 mg/l for algae, daphnia and fish), therefore it should be considered as "soil hazard category 3". Consequently, a chemical safety assessment based on EPM is conducted and a confirmatory long-term study is proposed. The EPM is currently not feasible as no aquatic toxicity has been measured up to the water solubility limit, but aquatic toxicity is still being investigated as a long-term toxicity to fish is currently being performed. As the toxicity to soil microorganisms endpoint is not covered by EPM and there is no clear indication of selective toxicity relative to different trophic levels, an OECD 216 study is preferred for this testing proposal.
