Description of key information

The flash point of Alcohols, C7-9-linear and branched is expected to be =70°C on the basis of read across, expert judgement and weight of evidence. Values of 71°C, 76.6°C and 77°C are reported in reliable secondary literature.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The available results form a weight of evidence.

The closed cup flash points of 71°C and 76.6°C are reported in reliable reference sources for hazardous properties of heptan-1-ol, the most volatile constituent of this UVCB. The closed cup flash point of 77°C is reported in company product literature for the UVCB. The expert judgement that the value would be expected to exceed 70°C is based upon read across from recent reliable measurements for commercial samples of analogous mono-constituent substances (hexan-1-ol, octan-1-ol and nonan-1-ol).

In some cases the CAS and chemical identity stated refer to SDA nomenclature for this substance. in REACH substance identification it is necessary to be more specific as to the chain lengths present. Full details may be

found in the CSR.
