Description of key information

Basic Yellow 28 acetate is not flammable, however, the 40% acetic acid solution might form a flammable gas.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Basic Yellow 28 acetate is only stable in presence of significant concentrations of free acetic acid; it cannot be isolated as such.

The methyl sulfate salt of Basic Yellow 28 is non-flammable. Basic Yellow 28 as the acetate salt is an aqueous solution in 40 % acetic acid. Therefore the acetic acid solution is more relevant for the assessment of the flammability of Basic Yellow 28 acetate.
