Additional information

There is no data on the chronic toxicity of cyclohexyl methacrylate available. However, for the structurally related methyl methacrylate (CAS# 80-62-6) a 21 -d reproduction test, using Daphnia magna, exists (OECD guideline 211) (MPA, 1997). The test was conducted under flow through conditions. The 21 day EC50 for Daphnia magna was 49 mg/L and the NOEC for reproduction 37 mg/L, based on measured concentrations.

There is further a 21-day reproduction test with the hydrolysis product methacrylic acid (CAS# 79 -41 -4) available that was conducted according to OECD guideline 211 (MPA, 1995). Daphnia magna were exposed to the test substance at nominal concentrations of 13, 25, 50, 100 and 200 mg/L under flow through conditions. The LOEC was determined to be 110 mg/L. A NOEC of 53 mg/L was determined.
