Additional information
The acute toxicity of MIPA (CAS 78-96-6) to aquatic invertebrates was determined in a static freshwater test conducted according to Directive 79/831/EEC, Annex V, Part C, using Daphnia magna as test species (BASF AG, 1992). The reported 48h EC50 of 108.8 mg/L indicates the test substance to be with high probability acutely not harmful to daphnids. The test substance solutions were not neutralized.
The study was conducted without analytical monitoring. However, it is assumed that the test concentrations remained stable over the exposure period based on a high water solubility (miscible at any ratio; see IUCLID ch. 4.8), a low vapour pressure (0.63 hPa at 25 °C, see IUCLID ch. 4.6) a low Henry's Law constant (4.95E-05 Pa m³/mol, HENRYWIN v3.20, BASF SE, 2017) and a low adsorption potential (log Kow = -0.93, BASF AG, 1987; log Koc = 1.53, according to Franco&Trapp, BASF SE, 2021). The stability over the exposure period was additionally confirmed by an available acute toxicity study on fish conducted with analytical monitoring and a recovery rate of 96% (Brooke, 1984).
