Hydrolysis

Parent compound pivaloyl chloride (CAS 3282-30-2): In contact with water, the substance will hydrolyse rapidly.

Hydrolysis product pivalic acid (CAS 75-98-9): According to structural properties, hydrolysis is not probable.

Phototransformation in air

After evaporation or exposure to air, the parent compound pivaloyl chloride (CAS 3282-30-2) and its hydrolysis product pivalic acid (CAS 75-98-9) will be slowly degraded by photochemical processes.
