First-aid measures

General information:

Remove soiled or soaked clothing immediately. Remove affected person from danger area, lay him down. Seek medical advice immediately.

After inhalation

Remove the casualty into fresh air and keep him calm.

After contact with skin:

In case of contact with skin wash off immediately with polyethylene glycol 400, then with plenty of water.

If polyethylene glycol is not available, rinse of with plenty of water.

After contact with eyes: In case of contact with eyes rinse thoroughly with plenty of lukewarm water and seek medical advice.

After ingestion:

Rinse out mouth and give plenty of water to drink. Induce vomiting in case medical help is not readily available and when the patient is concious

(Vomit should not go into the respiratoy air tract).

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: water spray jet, carbon dioxide, foam, dry powder

Extinguishing media that must not be used for safety reasons: Full water jet

Special hazards from the substance itself, its combustion products or from its vapours:

In case of fires, hazardous combustion gases are formed: Carbon monoxide (CO), Carbon dioxide (CO2), Nitrogen oxides (NOx)

Under certain conditions of combustion traces of other toxic substances cannot be excluded

Special protective equipment for firefighting: Use self-contained breathing apparatus

Further information:

Cool endangered containers with water spray jet.

Fire residues and contaminated firefighting water must be disposed of in accordance with the local regulations.

Collect contaminated firefighting water separately, must not be discharged into the drains.

Accidental release measures

Environmental precautions: Do not allow entry to drains, water courses or soil

Methods for cleaning up/taking up:

Take up with suitable equipment and if necessary collect in closed containers

Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly with water and detergents, observing environmental regulations

Avoid dust formation and electrical charging (sparking) because dust explosion might occur.

Handling and storage

Advice on safe handling:

Avoid formation of dust. Ensure efficient exhaust ventilation when using this product

Advice on protection against fire and explosion:

Take precautionary measures against electrostatic charges - earthing necessary during loading operations.

Keep away from sources of ignition. Dust can form an explosive mixture with air.

Advice on storage compatibility: Do not store together with oxidizing agents.

Further information on storage conditions:

Keep container tightly closed and dry in a cool, well-ventilated place. Protect from heat

Exposure controls / personal protection

During its lifecycle the substance is handled under strictly controlled conditions and is rigorously contained in accordance with Art. 18.

Based on the knowledge of the basic hazards to humans and environment technical, organizational and PPE measures are taken to minimize release and exposure of this substance. National regulatory requirements for the handling of chemicals are also fulfilled. Employees are regularly trained. The efficiency of these measures is controlled e.g. by workplace measurements. In case of deviations these measures are adapted.

General protective measures:

Observe the usual precautions for handling chemicals. Do not inhale dust. Avoid contact with eyes and skin

Hygiene measures:

Wash hands before breaks and after work. Use barrier skin cream.

Remove soiled or soaked clothing immediately and clean thoroughly before using again.

Respiratory protection : Wear dust mask when handling large quantities. In case of spillage : Full mask, filter A

Hand protection :

Butyl-rubber. Observe the information of the glove manufacturers on permeability and breakthrough times and other workplace requirements

Eye protection : safety glasses/face shield

Body protection : protective clothing or  working clothes

Stability and reactivity

Hazardous decomposition products: Nitrous gases

Disposal considerations

Product:

Product should be be taken to a suitable and authorized waste disposal site in accordance with relevant regulations and if necessary after consultation with the waste disposal operator and/or the competent Authorities

Uncleaned packaging

Packaging that cannot be cleaned should be disposed of as product waste
