Description of key information

PNEC for bethic organisms is calculated applying the equilibrium partitioning method using a Koc of 21 L/kg)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

PNEC sediment-freshwater

In the absence of measured data the PNECsedcan be provisionally calculated using the equilibrium partitioning method (EPM). According to the TGD this method uses the PNECaquaticand the sediment/water partitioning coefficient as inputs.

The PNECsedis calculated using the equations detailed in the TGD:

PNECsed       =  Ksusp-water* PNECaquatic* 1000 * 1 / RHOsusp

Where:

PNECaquatic      =     0.095 mg/L SCN- (0.125 mg/L NH4SCN)

Ksusp-water           =    1.425 m3.m-3

Koc                     =    21 L/kg

RHOsusp             =    1150 kg.m-3   (TGD, equ. 18)

Conversion factor from mg/kg/ww to mg/kg/dw = 4.607

PNECsed-EPM  = 0.1177 mg/kg ww = 0.5423 mg/kg dw
