Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Values for LEL: 1.8% at 38 deg C
Values for UEL: 7.8, 8%

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
highly flammable

Additional information

A number of handbook sources report the following flammable limits for isopropyl acetate: LEL (Lower explosion limit): 1.8% by volume (18,000 ppm) at 38 deg C, UEL (Upper explosion limit): 7.8 to 8.0% by volume (80,000 ppm). No individual source is considered reliable alone but together they constitute a weight of evidence to suggest that the parameter is reliable.

Justification for classification or non-classification

This information on flammability limits plus the data on flash point indicate that isopropyl acetate needs to be classified as highly flammable.
